BALZAN CONDEMN GUDJA TO CHALLENGE LEAGUE

2 - 0
Full Time

After four successive draws, Balzan returned to winning ways as they defeated Gudja 2-0 at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Sunday. A result which condemned both Gudja United and Sirens to play in the Challenge League next season.

Balzan were coming from a winless streak of eight matches from which they collected six points in draws. They now lie on the 26-point mark, one ahead of Gzira and Santa Lucia, three ahead of Mosta and six ahead of Valletta but Gzira and Mosta face each other in the other game on Sunday.

Gudja, on the other hand, were relegated as they remain at the bottom of the table without a win in twenty-one matches.

Balzan took the lead one minute from the end of the first half thanks to Aleksa Andrejic who received a through pass from the right and beat goalkeeper Felix Lehtinen with a low shot from the edge of the area.

Triston Caruana doubled the score on the 71st minute with a fine volley from outside the area following a clearance by the Gudja rear-guard.
