Gudja UTD News
Monday 22 October 2018
The first fixture of the season at the Victor Tedesco Stadium for Gudja United turned out to be the worst performance so far and offered a disastrous ending as Lija came out victorious with a 1-4 result.
Gudja took the game in hand in the early minutes and had their first opportunity with Jackson Lima at the 6th minute. Newly debutant Rafa Kooh Sohna tried his luck at the 9th and 11th minute but had no luck.
As from the 15th minute, Lija turned their engine on and reacted well to Gudja's initiative and came close to open the scores. At the 19th minute, on their second occasion, Lija were stopped only by the post.
The Match was well balanced until the 35th minute, as Lee Joe Schembri scored a beautiful pearl from a long distance curved shot.
From that moment on, Gudja lost pace to Lija, committed too many errors and were nothing close to what the team showed in the previous performances.
Lija doubled the lead 15 minutes into the second half, with Gudja failing to react until the 85th minute when Rafa grabbed one back.
In the dying minutes, Lija scored twice again to put an ending to the match.
